THE SEA OF ADOLESCENCE BOOKS 1-10

As a music teacher, I have always wanted to connect the lessons to my students’ lives. There were times when I would share anecdotes of my high school experiences with 7th & 8th graders to open their minds toward the musical films we were studying. The adolescents were on the edge of their seats as I recounted the circumstances of my teenage years. Even after the movies were watched, my students would beg me for more stories followed by endless questions. It surprised me that they were curious as to how I handled my seemingly ordinary challenges of growing into an adult, and also I was struck by how much they were trying to get advice out of me through their inquiries.

 

But time was always limited and there were vocal exercises or music theory concepts that were the priority of the moment. I promised them that I would one day tell them more stories… and now I am sharing the tales with them and anyone else who would like to listen.
